I come from the Republic of Cyprus, and the whole world cares about the U.S. presidential elections because the U.S. is the big police officer that controls everything politically, militarily and economically.Nowadays the United Nations serve clearly the U.S. interests. Any country that disagrees with the U.S. foreign policy is punished with air strikes. The international law has been forgotten and international justice has lost its meaning. Then we have this new fruit called “globalization,” which will only open the door to the big multinationals to make more money and exploit more people. It sounds like a Westernization policy. Some continents starve to death and the rich countries spend more money on weapons. Are these things going to change with Gore or Bush? NO. These two millionaires will just create more problems and leave their own scandal to hunt them. But on the other hand do people care?Judging from the last presidential campaign only 49 percent of the U.S. citizens had the free time to choose their next leader. Is the U.S. society like the rest of the world moving to the better? NO. Is the environment breathing better? NO. So where are we going? We are moving to our self-destruction.The inequality of wealth is the number one issue on this planet that these two candidates are deliberately forgetting. After all, if you’re not a millionaire you stand no chance to get elected as a president. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer while the middle class is vanishing. How many kids in Africa would have had food with all the money spent in the presidential campaign. The answer is in your conscience.
